A black person: Black bodies are hypersexualized and fetishized while at the same time viewed as inferior and ugly. This is why it is an issue, or at the very very least a huge red flag, if a non-black has only dated or has a ‘preference’ for black people. It is ALSO an issue if someone has never dated a black person or has a ‘preference’ that excludes them. Both actions, although they seem the exact opposite, stem from the same racist ideas about black bodies formed in the days of slavery and colonisation. These beliefs served the purpose of dehumanising us as a whole. Till this day these ideas have been perpetuated and are heavily ingrained in the subconscious of our society on a global level.
